Playing the keyboard has become
something challenging and more like a competition in the music industries and in some organizational
platforms today. Most players feel like they want to be on top of others while
the upcoming ones feel like they want to suppress their tutors. People say that
there is a very big difference between a Pianist and a Keyboardist. Well i have
seen some range of people who are either Pianist or Keyboardist. But the true
fact remains, someone can be a keyboardist and a pianist at the same time
pending on how engaged you are with the instrument also depending on how you
want to flow on the keys.
Research also made known that a pianist does not use
the Transpose method while playing but I still emphasize on the fact that even
a keyboardist can master all the keys and play without using the Transpose
method.
Basically I want to show you some
ways you can split the keyboard and use a two way sound from the left to the
right hand of the keyboard. Most players enjoy using this method to play a one
man play style. Like in some categories of music, where the bass is not
actually needed, the keyboard has to function as the bass player and the
keyboard itself. Then in other situations, where there is a bass a lead guitar
and no rhythm, the keyboard has to function as the rhythm and the keyboard
itself. Like-wise other instruments like lead, drums flutes, trumpets, sax,
banjo etc
The keyboard is believed to be
the most harder instrument played among several others due to the fact that it
comprises of other instrumental functions as listed above. For instance, you
can play drums, lead, rhythm, bass, trumpet, sax, tuba, xylophone, and other
sorts of instruments just in a single keyboard. Mind you that the keyboard
comprises of different versions and therefore has some differences or
similarities in this preview. Spitting
the keyboard means you want to use a two way sound to play in the keyboard. Meaning,
you can play bass and lead, bass and rhythm, rhythm and lead or any of it with
just a normal keyboard sound. Now splitting the keyboard will involve some
little settings for kind of keyboards. But for other it just uses a single
key-press and it is activated.
Following the setting methods, that is actually
what I am going to emphasize about. Now you have to follow these steps
carefully and gently so that you don’t forget. On your keyboard, you should a
key written under or above as FUNCTION press
the key and then look for a navigation key which makes you go up or down in the
menu function. Then you have to stop at a point which where you will find S.VOICE. the S.voice here stands for Sweet
Voice.
Note that for some keyboards, there is no navigation key and in
this case, you have to keep pressing the function key till you get to a point
known as S.VOICE. Now choose a sound you wish to use as your
left hand tone for playing on the left side. This is usually the main cause for
splitting the keyboard. Select the sound based on what you need for example; I
wasn’t to play either rhythm or bass on my keyboard, I mostly make use of this
sweet voices; Ocarina, Solosine, Sine lead. Etc.
there are several other voices
to uses on the left pane it just requires you to scroll towards the voices one
by one to get a suitable voice that fits that you intend to play. Now press the
navigation key again that goes up to take you to a point where you find S.Volume. This indicates how you want
to adjust the volume of your left pane sound. In some cases, players would love
to increase the left side sound of the keyboard than that of the left side. It
varies on what choices you make. So be cautioned on how you explore the volumes
to not cover the others.
NEXT STEP
Press the navigation again to
take you at a point where you see S.Octave.
This indicates how deep or light you want the voice to be like. For
instance I want to play bass on the left pane; I have to set my S.Octave to one of 0, -1, or -2. This makes it deeper
voice as the number increases. Choosing settings for 0 is not as heavy as -1 and
-1 is the default setting. The Minus
octave ends at -2, which is the
deepest. And if for instance I want to play rhythm on the left pane my settings
should range from 1, 2, and 3. Just like the above, octave 1 is deeper than voice 2 while octave 2 is lighter than octave 1. Now
you choose based on what you want. And that is all. Finally you have to
activate your settings by pressing on the SPLIT
keys, which are usually found along keys like SPLIT-DUAL-HARMONY-TOUCH. As seen below in the picture but it varies in the different versions.
So you have to activate by pressing SPLIT.
That is all about splitting the
keyboard.
